Grade II listed single storey private house refurbishment located
in Surrey. The house was originally designed by famous British
architect Erno Goldfinger in 1967. The main structure consists
of a series of gluelam beams at 8 feet centres spanning across
the whole width of the building and supported by timber columns
externally. The property includes two wings which were originally
linked by a narrow corridor. This corridor was demolished shortly
after the property was purchased by the current owner, and a standard
glazed conservatory was built temporarily while the client was
looking for an exclusive design to satisfy his aesthetic needs.
Malishev Wilson Engineers proposed an all-glass structure comprised
of glass portal frames supporting the weight of the glass roof
and providing stability against the wind load.
